Zanskar Trek – Padam to Lamayuru
Day 01. Arrive Delhi. Met upon arrival and check in to hotel.
Briefing about the trip & overnight Delhi.
Day 02. Delhi / Leh .
Morning Flight to Leh. Arrive leh
and transfer to hotel.
Day 03. Leh .
Acclimatization. Visit local monastery. Overnight hotel.
Day 04: Leh to Mulbekh drive via Lamayuru monastery. (3600m) 7hrs.
We will start our journey from Leh
to Mulbekh by jeep to visit Lamayuru , Likir Monastery .Mulbek is a
famous village with big rock carved Buddha Statue. Stay at Maîtreya Guesthouse or Nunnery. Overnight at Mulbekh 40 Kmsm before Kargil town.
Day 05 : Mulbekh to Rangdum via Kargil
Overnight camp at Rangdum.
Morning after breakfast drive to Kargil.
After a cup of tea we drive further to Rangdum.
Day 06 : Rangdum to Padum Overnight Camp.
Day 07: Padum – Karsha-Pishu Trek
We start first day's trek in the morning after
breakfast. We will drive to Karsha
(3610 M) by covering approximately 7 kms
crossing the Doda river. A 15th century
Gelupa Monastery (popularly known as Karsha Gompa) dominates the
scene. Arrive and visit the monastery and then start trekking to Pishu (3665 M) by covering approximately 13 kms in 4-5 hrs along the river Zanskar. Arrive at Pishu and
stay overnight in tents.
Day 08 : Pishu - Hanumil Trek
Start the trek with a good breakfast and reach Hanumil
(3960 M) by covering approximately 14 kms in 4-5 hrs through Pidmu after
continuing to the left bank of the river Zanskar.
Arrive and stay overnight in tents.
Day 09: Hanumil - Purfi La - Snertse Trek
After breakfast start the trek to reach Snertse
(3745 M/15 kms) after crossing a steep and
difficult climb to the pass, Purfila Pass
(3900 M). From the pass it is a steep descent upon Omachu
river and from there it is about 1 km climb up to a wonderful location. The
campsite at Snertse & Arrive and stay overnight
Day 10: Snertse - Hanuma-la - Lingshed (6-7 hours)
Long gradual ascent towards the Hanuma-la. Through
gorges first then easier. After 2 hours, pass a sheepfold
. A further 2/3 hours to reach the summit of the Hanuma-la(4700m). A
1000m steep descent, then a 300m, climb along the mountainside. From
this small pass, easy descent towards Lingshed (about 3800m). Campsite near the monastery(Gelukpa).
Day 11: Lingshet - Foot of Singgela
After breakfast start the trek to the base of Singgela, 6 - 7 hrs approximately. Dinner & overnight
stay is in camp.
Day 12: Foot of Singela - Singgela - Photoksar Trek
After breakfast start climbing up the Singgela Pass
(5230 M) which takes about 2-3 hours. Singgela
means the lion's pass which is also the highest pass on this trek. First the
climb is through the terminal Moraine and then through the long Glacier. The
climb is not steep but the descent through the steep glaciers is a little
difficult. Proceed to Photoskar village is a town
of clusters of homes, green fields and a gompa
above in a dark brown cut crop. Arrive for dinner & stay overnight in
Day 13: Photoksar - Sirsir La – Hanupatta Trek
The trekking (6-7 hours approx.) to reach Hanupatta (3770 M) after crossing Sirsir
La (4230 M). The climb to the pass is steep but the descent is gentle. Arrive
and stay overnight in tents.
Day 14: Hanupatta - Wanla –Leh.
In the morning after breakfast we start trekking (6-7 hours approx.) to reach
Wanla (3645 M). Wanla is
a small town with its Maroon and white Monastery perched above the town on a
knife edged ridge. After visiting the gompa then
take the waiting jeep back to Leh. End of the most
amazing trek of Zanskar region. Arrive Leh and transfer to hotel. Overnight hotel.
Day 15. Leh/Delhi / Rishikesh
Morning flight to
Delhi. Arrive Delhi & Tour Terminates.
